JOBA: LOCKDOWN!

Last night is why Joba needs to start, the lockdown starter we have
been looking for... Some say he may have less impact than we thought
but last night went a long way to proving he is an ACE!

Joh, Say it aint So!!

Gutty win by the Mets, but of more concern is the poor performance of Johan Santana. He has some time before reaching Zito status but he is yet to come close to ACE status. In a big game I feel more confidant in Pelfrey.

Mo Like

Mariano like performance by Cook saving Uggla and the league. Terrible job not getting a flyball to win the game, no excuse in an ordinary game it should be automatic in the allstar game.. Feels like an extremely long night...

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Uggla, Ugly!!

Wow! He is single handedley blowing the game. Gotta feel bad for him...

Big Double Play!

That's why he is the greatest reliever of all time, he is unflappable in big spots! Wagner can't shine his shoes.. American League will win it right here in the 10th and a Yankee will have played the pivotal role in securing home field advantage, just like the script was written.

Billy Blows it, Again

Way to go Billy! Not only did Wagner cost Willie Randolph his job, he will most likely have cost the National League home field advantage in World Series.. The Mets can win a 30 games in a row but in the biggest spot Wagner will Blow it!

Willies Long Good-bye

As a Willie Randolph fan it saddens me that he has self destructed. He has given the Mets an out and unfortunately they will take him out in the not so distant future. What Willie did with Mike and Chris was almost worse than the comments themselves, he talks of a moonwalk now that was a moonwalk of epic proportions.Ian Oconnor stated that he had his tape recorder out during the conversation which typically signals an on the record conversation to the lay person.

The knock on Willie was that he was sensitive and that has been borne out and will ultimately cost him his job. Sundays chat with Ian was the beginning of a goodbye now it is up to the players to determine how long!

Uninspired!

I am shocked how the Yankees have approached this season. I was among those who thought and still thinks turning the page on the Torre era was the right thing to do, but i tought this years product would have a little more fire. Injuries aside this team is flawed, full of older players on the downside. It is too soon to say that Girardi was the wrong move but this team better start to play with some fire or shakeups will be on the way, Hank will want to show his bark comes with bite at some point..

Assembled Press. Didn't!

The assembled media at the "press" conference asked nothing of substance.. Mike and the Dog will pick up the pieces but what a disgrace, how do they not ask about the apparent change in plans that this move represents.. The fans deserve better

The Knicks Blow another one!

The Knicks Blow another one! What a disgrace first Walsh and now this guy, they have no clue and if anyone thought there was a plan forget it

SCOTT/RANDOLPH

It is hard not to notice the comparison between these two coaches.
Both have had success and the latter is about to follow the former out
of town because of personality clashes with star players (singular in
Scott's case) Scapegoating will always be aprt of sport and we all
participate from time to time but in 5 years Willy be leading the
Pirates (where he started) back to the promiselland just as Byron is
doing with the New Orleans..

Scarlet Knight Nation to Doggy: WELCOME!

With his passionate defense of Rutger's decision not to capitulate to Notre Dame in recent negotiations Christopher "Mad Dog" Russo has joined the Scarlet Knight Nation. He joins the likes of Chris "Continent" Carlin and NBC's Bruce Beck as esteemed members of this growing "Nation".. While Mike remains a holdout Chris's membership marks a watershed moment in Knights history, for the better part of 20 years he had railed against the Rutgers football program (rightfully so for many of those years), and urged on many occasions to downgrade to a 1 AA schedule. By swatting away the storied "Fighting Irish" Rutgers has taken another giant step in establishing itself as a premier Football program.

On behalf of Bruce and "Continent" and the millions of lesser known members of the Scarlet Knight Nation, welcome Christopher Russo!

JOBA IN PEN: BULL!

I believe Joba should have been a starter from the beginning of the
season. This was before Kennedy and Hughes imploded.. For how many
years have we heard we need a "lock down" starter, here is our chance
for a home grown phenom and we let him sit in the bullpen waiting for
a meaningful 8th inning. As we have have seen recently at the current
pace very few opportunities will present for JOBA. I don't care how
dominant he has been or will be in the Pen we need to see what he can
do as a starter. Hughes and Kennedy will improve but now is a great
opportunity to see what Joba can do as a starter!

Congressiona Hearings

As the dust settles on Clemens v McNamee one thing is clear, I rather have the dopes in Congress conducting baseball hearings than messing up anything of real importance.. The prevailing wisdom has been the opposite, Why is congress wasting time and money on policing baseball is the call from sports and political talking heads. It was apparent that the best and the brightest are not in congress so we should be glad that for 4.5 hours they were distracted and could not do any damage to the economy or foreign policy....

ELI!

CHARACTER!

That drive was character... We are here to win and make history..
Cover this kick!

Did What We Needed To Do

We showed we more than belonged now it is time to go out and win the game.. We should have more points on the board (even the hail Mary looked like Smith could've caught).. Pats are frustrated they have let us hang around, we are dangerous, gameplan does not change go back to Jacobs and hammer them the 3 yard carries will now be 5 and 7 yard carries.. They get the ball 3 and out, no more than a field gaol, keep hitting Brady!! In Tuck we trust!

SLUGFEST!

Bring on Bradshaw and reestablish the run! We are in great position
to take the lead going to the half!

COMPOSURE

Eli needs to lead and get everyone calmed down... We are in good
shape! Back to the run...

ONE DOWN 3 TO GO!

We won the first quarter.. If Pierce just turns around he may pick
the ball... We gave field position which made it easy but we are
getting some pressure...

DOESN'T LOOK COMFORTABLE

HOLD TO 3

NO BIG PLAY

too late... got to make them work a little.. GREAT opening drive
but we need TDs... THEY ARE GOING FOR 6 ON FIRST PLAY!

Move the CHains

Shorten the game keep with the run game it will be there.. Two huge third down conversions by Eli,, Steve Smith is a key few have spoken about during the buildup..

Fight Feel

Has the feel of a boxing match if we hang tough and take some shots and hang around we will be ok!!!

Coin Toss!

Finally! Let's get going... First Win!! Ram ball down there throat!!!

Belichick Burnout!

Enough talk they are men and they are not perfect and will not be perfect! Belichick while great is not going to make one pass run or tackle so enough he is not a deity. 15 minutes to immortality, GIANTS WIN!!

Friday, February 1, 2008

GIANTS WIN! DECISIVELY

The Giants will shock the world and beat the New England Patriots by 10 points on Sunday (if the margin is tighter the PATS will have scored late). By 11 PM Sunday night (Godwilling not later) the Giants will be celebrating in Phoenix. While the Patriots are lauded for being robots during Superbowl week the Giants are derided for being to relaxed and dare I say confident. Coughlin can't win, on the one hand he is being praised for relaxing and allowing men to be men and now in the the most important week of the season they want the old Tom back to declare Martial Law you can't have it both ways.

The Giants will win on talent. They have a more talented defensive team, younger and athletic and offensively they can more than hold there own except for the quarterback position. Now while Belichick is God I like my chances with Tom (either version)... While Mike and the Mad Dog and others minimize the Giants chances I feel the Giants will play like Giants. They will come out aggressive and taking chances on both sides of the ball. Playing with "House money" is even more empowering when you have talent.

The Patriots are not the only storied franchise playing Sunday. The Giants are no strangers to greatness and they will become reacquainted on Sunday evening!

New LT in Town!

Lawrence Tynes! That is a professional!

BRUTAL!

I BELIEVED IN TYNES UNREAL

Huge 3d Down

Biggest 2 yards of the season... Nobody thought we'd be this close let's finish it on this drive.. Favre is sucking wind, more mistakes are in him..

15 Minutes to Phoenix

WE ARE IN POSITION NOW IT IS GUT CHECK TIME . EVERYONE DO YOUR JOB!

Where's the replay?

Why no replay of the Personal Foul on Madison? Was it that bad of call that the NFL Nixed the replay bush league by FOX..

Thanks Sam

Why bother coming back if you are gonna kill us

We are OK

We have weathered their onslaught and we are right where we need to be.. The game starts fresh win the second half win the game. Concentration Plax has to catch that ball at the end of the hallf.. Come out and establish the running game... We weren't gonna shut them out so just play 30 minutes of solid football and we are in phoenix nothing has been decided..

Still our Game

That is their big play we must answer...

6 is Enough?

In normal weather conditions I would be very concerned that we have been on their side of the field for the entire half and only have 6 to show, but in these conditions you gotta be happy. Defense looks sharp so just cover the kick and play sound and we go to Phoenix!1 This show the importance of home field!

Bradshaw

Were is he He should have made an appearance by this point!!

Amani

Could be a pivotal point in the game, how do you drop that ball

Pivotal Drive!

Just no turnovers at the very least we can tilt the field against them.. Put 6 on the board and Pack is in big trouble we aint the Seahawks!

On Track!

Great opening drive obviously prefer touchdowns but 3 is good.. Big stop coming up!

Silence

Good sign the building is quiet

Pound Brandon!

Let's break their spirit with Brandon. Pound him!

Big Stop

Here we go nice job D!!

Eli Be Big Today!

This is his opportunity to make his indelible mark on this historic franchise.. 60 minutes of football away from silencing the critics. The clock better not strike midnight!

History up next!

Giants will make history and beat the packers by at least 10 points.. The pundits forget it will be cold for both teams and the Giants have a better run game and they can't cover Amani Plax and Smith. Steve Smith will be a huge factor!!

3d Time Charm for Coughlin

Brett Favre does not have a monopoly on the football Gods. This is
Tom Coughlin's 3d league championship game as an NFL head coach. Tom
has earned this opportunity and if there is justice in the football
universe he will lead the GIANTS to the Superbowl. Coughlin is a
coach who never got a grace period, he has been under fire from before
his first training camp. Players and media never gave him an
opportunity eventhough he had a great track record. Not in recent NY
sports history has a coach had so much success and been hammered so
hard.

Today is an opprtunity for Coughlin's vindication and while the
national stories focus on Favre in twilight I will be rooting hard
for the Giants and especially their coach.

Keepin it Simple: Giants Win!

The analysis thankfully is about done, the game cannot get here fast enough. Too much has been made of the weather, the fact remains the Packers don't play many games in the severe cold and we learned this week they do not practice in it either. Comparing both rosters it is very apparent that the Giants are better with the obvious exception of the QB position. Not many are giving the Giants a shot, I predict a decisive victory. I felt confident in Tampa and in Dallas and now in Green Bay.

Come 9:30 Sunday night the Giants will be celebrating in Lambeau..

Thursday, January 17, 2008

TYPICAL RADIO STUNT

For those of us that thought the Fan was above ridiculous publicity
stunts, we were wrong. Tomorrow the Fan will feed into the worst
stereotypes of morning radio hosts when Carton walks the Brooklyn
bridge. The amount of promotion we are being subjected to is
ridiculous I hope no one shows.. The over under is 25 fans in
attendance. Oh the Pain!

Wednesday, January 16, 2008

Spitz/Chernoff under oath

The Fan braintrust should be made to explain Evan Roberts.. The
public airwaves should not be subject to such abuse. They should be
mandated to end the Evan experiment and allow Benigno solo! END THE
SUFFERING! OH THE PAIN!

TYNES UNDERRATED

Tynes is not that bad. I HAVE CONFIDENCE AS A GIANT FAN..

Mike and Chris come back

Mike and Chris come back to us!
Brady is great but he does have a child out of wedlock let's remember!1

Are we actually taking calls

Are we actually taking calls about 1969?

Doggy Dead Wrong! Up four

Doggy Dead Wrong!

Up four at the end of the game Coughlin played it correct.. Jacobs has to be able to get a yard in that situation..

Giants Win, the Giants WIn!

I can see Brandon Jacobs celebrating a TD with a "Lambeau Leap" I can see Eli and Tom carried of the field together. In a year and an era marked with disappointment and mind blowing frustration this group is on the cusp of going to the Superbowl. As a result of one of the great Giant playoff wins this group of reformed underachievers has a legitimate shot at the Superbowl. The maligned defense came up huge in the 4th quarter (really the whole game)and allowed the entire organization to be vindicated... Eli did what he needed to do: Amani, Boss (i have a feeling Shockey will be in NJ for offseason workouts),jacobs, Smith, Bradshaw the O Line you could go on this was a team win. On to Lambeau and a date with an Immortal as the two greatest franchises in NFL history meet to decide who will represent the NFC in the Superbowl, this is what makes the NFL the greatest pro sports league in the world... Prediction- Giants get a second chance at the Patriots!

Our Turn 90 YDS

Our turn to burn clock and deliver the knockout punch!

Big One!

21-17 if the D can stop them we are in good shape! THIS IS A DIFFERENT TEAM, nothing seems to phase them... Dallas has let us hang around those long time consuming drives may come back to haunt them, they shortened the game and allowed us to hang.. They don't have an answer for Toomer, Plax and Smith!!

Gutty Gritty Giants!

Eli proving the doubters wrong agian.. Defining drive overcame -2 yards and being dominated in the quarter to be tied at the half. Cowboys shaking their heads dominate a quarter 2 90 plus drives dominate the clock and we are knotted at 14.. make some adjustments against the run game a little pressure up the middle on Romo and off to Lambeau!!

Dallas get the ball to start the half 3 and out... My wife can even tell Eli looks like a different player, I hope the clock doesn't strike midnight..

Are his hands Webbed?

Corey you just killed the season, that will be looked upon as the play that defined this game... Can the D step up one time and make a play??

Defense..

Critical defensive series pinned at the nine, they have to stop Barber

End of One!

As the review is underway the Giants played well. The Dallas running game has come alive which needs to be addressed Butler comes up out of control on the long Barber run, Giants need to play smart.. TO looks to be healthy... We weren't gonna shut them out so even 7-7 is ok.. Still in good shape! (review goes to D)

Perfect Start!

Nice drive you could not have scripted the first drive any better.. The run game looks sharp and with the exception of the almost int by Eli he looks ready to play.. Giants D get a 3 and out!!

Maybe Our Manning's Turn to Come up Big

With Peyton going down to the Chargers maybe today belongs to Eli.. Peyton's loss maybe be another harbinger of things to come for the Gints today.. Anything less than a victory will not be acceptable.. Stars are lining up for Big Blue, 6 minutes to game time!

Confidence: Unfamiliar Feeling

As a Giant fan during the Eli era confidence is not something I am accustomed to experiencing.. But for the first time in recent memory there is an eery calm as we head into Big D... Maybe it is the realization that Romo is coming back to earth, TO will be less than 100%, and that Wade Phillips is the coach.. While it may be trendy to bash Bill Parcells in Dallas there is a reason Bill has had success and Wade has been a journeyman coach/coordinator. Eli needs to pass for over 250 yards and the Giants need to rush for 150 if they do that they will win probably in the 31-20 range..

For Eli's sake he better not implode, if he thinks the critiques have been harsh wait until the Giants lose and he is the direct cause..

Lambeau or Bust! Giants will head to the frozen tundra to get there ticket punched for the Superbowl... Things are breaking the Giants way!

Romo, Reality?

Nobody can argue Tony Romo has enjoyed a magic carpet ride professionally and personally this past year.. But if we step back and take a look objectively his body of work consists of a small sample.. I contend while he is a good player he has played over his head and will settle to a level below this past season. As a Giant fan I hope the settling starts this Sunday! Jerry Jones will look back in 5 years and realize he jumped the gun with the enormous contract.. I want to reiterate I believe he is a good player and will be for years to come but there is a reason he was undrafted and while there are diamonds in the rough that go undrafted(fewer as a result of advanced scouting and all games on TV) chances are his weaknesses will show at some point and we have seen some of this down the stretch even before the thumb injury..

Joe/Evan Divide

On yesterdays show you heard why Joe must be solo and why nobody (including Joe in my humble estimation) likes Evan. Evan's willingness to Rat out any and everyone exemplifies the divide... Evan the tattle tail, everyone on the fan should watch themselves around Evan. Nothing is off the record.. And while Joe is a good sport and puts a good face on a bad on air marriage, you could hear in his voice how disgusted he was by Evan's attitude toward ratting people out.

End Evan Now! Be nig no So lo! Oh the pain!!! PS. Joe great suit last night on SNY (Carl is rubbing off, just work on sitting up straight)

Eli the Great?

Not quite, but Eli finally looked like a number one draft choice. Now the Giants have a tendency to get a little full of themselves after big wins now we will see if they can focus and be a contender. There is no reaso nthe Giants can't go and win in Dallas the Cowboys have not played well down the stretch and they are primed to be picked off.. And does anyone really believe that Wade Phillips can get this team through the playoffs? The bloom has been coming off the Cowboy rose for the last several weeks and this is the Giants time. Having said all that if the Giants come out flat as they did today they will find themselves down 21-0 not 7 zip. Steve Tisch looked ready to sign Coughlin to an extension on the field in the final moments, the Coughlin haters have been silenced. 5 years for Coughlin, "In Tom we Trust!"

Nice Job Eli for a day you have gotten the Giant fans believing blow up in Big D and that all crumbles, enjoy tonight.

2 Minutes to Big D

The D needs to come up big and get us to Dallas. For once the offense has done more than its part.. Big play to Pittman we need to tighten up and make it tougher.. Osi has been quiet time to make a play...

3/4 Home!

Eli hit Toomer to end the quarter enormous conversion.. Not quite at the "In Eli we Trust" stage but he is playing well.. So far he is doing more than managing the game he is a presence.. Eat some clock and get one one more TD and we win!

Penalties

No penalties in the first half than 2 huge ones to begin the 3d.. Offside at the goal line and now stupid play by Cofield, unbeleivable.. They need to stay focused and finish.

Half way home!!

One more half of solid football and Eli will have proven something to all of his detractors (I am number one in the line).. Giants need to stay agreessive and put at least 14 more points on the board.. As the 1/2 ended the running game seems to be improving.. Pressure is bothering Garcia, but as Giant fans we should feel confident but their is always a air of uncertainty... No turnovers and no penalties excellent job...
They can't block us up front.. Strahan is asserting himself...

Eli Express!

Eli in a zone, in a good way (normally he looks comatose or sedated).. The running game looks to be clicking (Bradshaw shot in the arm).. You never feel entirely comfortable but we are beating a team we are more talented than and should beat!

Nice Job Eli!!

I hammer him when he does poorly so you gotta say good job!! Amani seems focused no drops, big stop on defense and get some more points!!
Big third down we need points another huge drop by Smith supposedly possession receiver. We have at least 3 in the bank don't blow it..
Big defensive stop this could be a turning point as we now have field position.. Stick with run game.. The Giants seem to have withstood the initial surge based on emotion, now the game is settling down, Eli needs to lead a drive..
7-0 FIRST QUARTER. The defense is going to have to put the team on their back and make some plays.. At least Eli didn't fumble on third down... Every pass is off the 2nd down throw to smith a good quarter back completes that.. He needs to step up..

Not enough Emotion

Giants have not matched the emotion and intensity to start the game.. This game has an all too familiar feel to it, they need a stop and put some points up.. 4:38 to go first quarter they have established nothing on either side of the ball..

Saturday, January 5, 2008

Eli Must Deliver!

Eli needs to do more than not make mistakes, he needs to assert himself and make big plays. 18-24 220 yds 2 toucdowns no turnovers would be a realistic benchmark. He needs to play well and the Giants need to win for him to begin to win back Giants fans.. Right now the confidence of the Giant fan is so low many are willing to accept the minimum from Eli, we deserve and should expect more!
